Riverside, CA — On Saturday, October 12, 2024, Riverside LGBTQ+ Pride was presented with the Inland Empire Community Legacy Award by TruEvolution at their annual TruGala. Recognizing the organization's vital contributions to the LGBTQ+ community in the region, the award was accepted by Riverside Pride's board of directors, led by President Ray Yu, in an event that celebrated with the theme “Let Your Light Shine.”
Elle del Campo, TruEvolution's Marketing Manager, praised Riverside Pride for their groundbreaking work in the Inland Empire, stating, “In a region where LGBTQ+ representation has often been scarce, Riverside Pride has emerged as a powerful force for change, serving as a cornerstone for empowerment and visibility in the Inland Empire.” del Campo further highlighted that Riverside Pride’s impact reaches beyond organizing events. “Through year-round programming, educational outreach, and continuous community building efforts, Riverside Pride has cultivated an ongoing movement for change.”
During his acceptance speech, Ray Yu expressed deep gratitude to TruEvolution for their unwavering support throughout Riverside Pride’s journey. “We are so grateful to TruEvolution for their support, not only from the early days of our journey, but right up to just a couple of weeks ago at our PRIDE event at their Inland Empire LGBTQ+ Center.”
Yu's remarks also reflected the resilience required to sustain a non-profit organization’s mission, aligning with the gala's theme of letting one's light shine. “Fighting for marginalized communities is hard work, something TruEvolution knows well. Riverside Pride is powered entirely by volunteers, many of us juggle 9 to 5 jobs while pouring our energy into this cause. It takes a fierce unyielding flame for us to keep going every day and this recognition from TruEvolution is very timely fuel.”
Riverside Pride’s marquee next PRIDE festival is scheduled for May 10th, 2025 at White Park in Downtown Riverside and is expected to draw 6000 attendees.
