Empowering LGBTQ+ Communities: Civic EnGAYgement Workshop

Join us for a workshop aimed at empowering LGBTQ+ individuals and allies to actively engage in LGBTQ+ advocacy efforts. This workshop offers a safe and inclusive space for participants to explore key issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community and learn practical strategies for effecting positive change and becoming more civically enGAYged. Whether you're a seasoned activist or just starting to explore ways to get involved, this workshop provides valuable tools, resources, and inspiration to become an effective advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and social justice. Following the workshop, check out the “Out in the I.E.” pop-up exhibit, A 50 Year Retrospective of the Inland Empire LGBTQ+ Community’s Tenacity, Triumphs, and Trailblazers. Jorge Delos Santos

Director of Community Health Programs at TruEvolution

(He/Him)

A 24 year resident of Riverside, Jorge Delos Santos graduated from the University of California, Riverside, with bachelor's degrees in Women’s Studies and Anthropology, and minors in LGBTIQ Studies and Ethnic Studies. In his role as Director of Community Health Programs at TruEvolution, he also leads outreach efforts to target populations, develops individual behavioral risk reduction plans and goals with clients, works reducing HIV/AIDS stigma, providing accurate information regarding HIV transmission, and educating communities on safer sex practices. In Fall 2024, Jorge will begin his Master's in Public Health at the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine, further equipping him to make a significant impact in the field of community health.

Erika Ruiz

Community Organizing Director of Inland Empire Prism Collective

Erika Ruiz is the Community Organizing Director and one of the co-founders of Inland Empire Prism Collective. In this role, they organize within Riverside and San Bernardino counties, advocating for LGBTQ+ student rights through student engagement, coalition building, and public advocacy. With 16 years of organizing experience, Erika is dedicated to empowering LGBTQ youth and creating lasting change in their community.

Brock Cavett

Advocacy Director of
Riverside LGBTQ+ Pride

(He/Him)

Serving as Riverside Pride's Advocacy Director, Brock Cavett works to amplify voices of the LGBTQ+ community through activism and political representation. He also serves as Director of Programming and Career Development for Alumni at University of California, Riverside. Brock has earned a M.A. in Higher Education and Student Affairs, and a B.A. of Communication Studies at the University of Iowa.
