Bring your raincoats and decorated umbrellas!  \n\n\n\nJoin us for a collaborative event between Riverside Pride & the Transgender Health & Wellness Center of Riverside for a day of activities to commemorate the Transgender Day of Visibility. Transgender Day of Visibility (“TDoV”) is an annual event occurring on March 31 dedicated to celebrating transgender people and raising awareness of discrimination faced by transgender people worldwide\, as well as a celebration of their contributions to society. Due to the day falling on Easter Sunday in 2024\, we're observing this equally important day on March 30th. The day's activities start with a Rally for Rights at 1pm at the City of Riverside City Hall building (9th & Main St in downtown Riverside). The rally will be followed by a March for Civil Rights to the Riverside Civil Rights Institute\, where Transgender Health & Wellness welcomes you with a Celebration of Joy featuring Transgender performers\, food and music!

Queer Alliance of UCR and the LGBT Resource Center invite area high school students and junior high/middle school students to the 20th Annual Pride Prom. This QA Youth Outreach Event provides a safe space for a fabulous evening of music\, dancing\, food\, and fun. Dress for comfort\, or dress to impress. A photo booth is on-site and refreshments provided.  \n\n\n\nParents\, teachers\, and adult advocates for LGBTQ+ youth are also welcome. Doors open at 6:30pm for check-in. But Vassie isn’t just any old lady; she’s the last of a line of powerful root women who have been caring for the community since her ancestors were first captured and enslaved by white plantation owners. Patsy\, the eldest daughter in the family\, is immediately suspicious; the locals’ fear and superstition of her grandmother leads Patsy to take a closer look at the Turner family home\, and what she finds is beyond her wildest nightmares. \n\n\n\nJazmine Joyner is a Black disabled nonbinary femme who has been working in various parts of the comics industry for years. From being the first Black woman on the West Coast to own a comic shop to being an award-winning comics journalist\, they have committed their life to their love of comics. They are based in Southern California and have written for Women Write About Comics\, The Comics MNT\, and others. Devour is their debut graphic novel. \n\n\n\nJohn Jennings is a Professor of Media and Cultural Studies at the University of California at Riverside. Jennings is co-editor of the Eisner Award-winning collection The Blacker the Ink: Constructions of the Black Identity in Comics and Sequential Art. Jennings is also a 2016 Nasir Jones Hip Hop Studies Fellow with the Hutchins Center at Harvard University. Whether you're a seasoned activist or just starting to explore ways to get involved\, this workshop provides valuable tools\, resources\, and inspiration to become an effective advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and social justice. Following the workshop\, check out the “Out in the I.E.” pop-up exhibit\, A 50 Year Retrospective of the Inland Empire LGBTQ+ Community’s Tenacity\, Triumphs\, and Trailblazers. In partnership with the Civil Rights Institute Inland Southern California \n\n\n\nScheduled Panelists:\n\n\n\n\n\nJorge Delos Santos\n\n\n\nDirector of Community Health Programs at TruEvolution \n\n\n\n(He/Him) \n\n\n\n\n\n\nA 24 year resident of Riverside\, Jorge Delos Santos graduated from the University of California\, Riverside\, with bachelor's degrees in Women’s Studies and Anthropology\, and minors in LGBTIQ Studies and Ethnic Studies. Riverside\, this long-running social event happens every 3rd Saturday morning of the month at Back To The Grind coffee shop on University Avenue. For over 10 years we've gathered with friends. There are regulars and new faces every month! Bring a friend. DESCRIPTION:Join the Edward-Dean Museum & Gardens for an authors' panel on Saturday the 15th of June at the Edward-Dean Museum Kay Cancerous Banquet Hall @ 1:00pm. We look forward to hosting a space for local authors\, writers\, and readers alike. Authors will introduce themselves and their books followed by a discussion on the process of writing and publishing lgbtq+ works. Afterward\, there will be refreshments and time to socialize and purchase books. The intention is to have a fun and engaging space for the community to gather😊 Come support local authors and socialize with the book community.
